A Day at the Beach
A Day at the Beach
1980

An experimental painting. The interior is a painting that totally surrounds the viewer. With a pulley and counterweight, the artwork can be raised and lowered to suit anyone's height.

Developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this artwork is one in a series that pioneered the exploration of a total commitment to the embodiment of the viewer within the aesthetic context/content. Some of the artworks incorporated an aural text via earphones the viewer donned prior to "entering" the art.
